Michael Fowler studied jazz and classical music at UNC-Greensboro and in New York City. In his twenty + years as a professional percussionist/drummer he has worked with jazz groups such as The Bob Sharkey Trio and the Michael Bellair Trio in NYC. Jazz greats Marvin Stamm, Dick Oates, Jack Wilkins, Gary Dial, Ted Nash, Chris Murell, Ken Rhodes, Al Neese, Matt Kendrick, Scott Sawyer, Jud Franklin and Greg Hyslop to name a few. He has also performed and done regional tours with The Drifters, Clarence "Frogman" Henry, The Shirelles, The Platters, Ben Folds, The Penguins, Evan Olsen, Lou Cristie, Eugene Chadbourne and others. Also many Broadway style shows such as West Side Story, Little Shop of Horrors, Oklahoma, My Way (Sinatra Tribute) and more. Michael has played in Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, Alltell and Blockbuster Pavillions and the 55 Bar and Village Gate in NYC’s Greenwich Village. He currently lives and teaches in Greensboro, performing regularly with various jazz artists in the North Carolina area including The Reggie Buie Trio.
